The Nissan X-TRAIL has been named as a finalist for New Zealand's most prestigious automotive award, the New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild Car of The Year.

Some 18 automotive journalists from across New Zealand judge the Guild's Car of The Year Award, assessing every new model launched in the country over the past 12 months.

The 10 finalists are selected and assessed across a range of consumer-focused criteria, including design, fit and finish, quality, driving dynamics, safety, value and environmental impact.

It is yet another honour for the model, with the X-TRAIL having already been named Australia's Best Medium SUV at the Drive Car of The Year Awards, Best Large SUV at Women's World Car of the Year 2023, and a winner of a 2023 Australian Good Design Award – along with a host of international accolades.

"We are immensely proud of the X-TRAIL, not just because of the accolades it has collected, but because of how well received it has been by families right across our region," says Adam Paterson, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

"To be recognised as a finalist in such a prestigious award by New Zealand's top motoring experts is another honour for the X-Trail, and one that only makes us prouder still."

The New Zealand Car of The Year winner, to be announced in February, will receive the Peter Greenslade trophy – named for a founding member of the New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild.
