MELBOURNE, Australia – Nissan Australia has launched a series of bold new marketing videos encouraging Nissan owners to use Genuine Parts in their vehicles.

The advertisements are the latest installment in Nissan Australia's Beware of Strangers campaign, which seeks to inform consumers about the differences between using genuine and non-genuine parts in the maintenance and repair of their vehicles. The company's campaign was developed after Australia's peak automotive body, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), launched its Genuine is Best campaign, which addresses the local industry's growing focus on the concerns surrounding replacement vehicle parts that are untested or counterfeit.

"A non-genuine vehicle part might look the same as a genuine part but how well do you really know the manufacturer?" asked Ian Moreillon, Director of Customer Experience and Franchise Quality at Nissan Australia. "There are many automotive components that visibly pass as a genuine equivalent and what many vehicle owners don't seem to be aware of is that many of these parts have the potential to compromises their vehicle's safety and quality."

"Nissan, like many car-makers, invests heavily in vehicle and component research and development," he said. "These genuine parts are developed and tested to a multitude of essential standards. It's this simple but vital fact that makes using genuine parts so important."

Nissan's latest marketing campaign features a quirky ensemble cast of "strangers" who are used to personify common non-genuine vehicle parts and accessories. The entertaining spots are the centrepiece of the 360 campaign that poses the question "would you trust a stranger with the people or things that you love?"

Over the next 10 weeks, the campaign will be live across a range of channels with an expected audience of more than 11 million.
