- First right-hand-drive units of the all-new Patrol roll off the production line
- New ladder chassis frame delivers 40 per cent greater torsional rigidity
- High-strength steel content in the body structure increases by 21 per cent
MELBOURNE, Australia – Production of the all-new Nissan Patrol has officially commenced in Kyushu, Japan, with the first right-hand-drive Patrol vehicles rolling off the line at the Nissan Shatai Kyushu plant, destined for Australia.
The milestone marks the start of Patrol production for right-hand-drive markets, continuing Nissan Shatai Kyushu’s proud tradition of assembling Patrol vehicles for Australia and global markets. The factory also produces INFINITI’s flagship QX80 SUV and the recently launched Nissan Elgrand premium minivan exclusively for Japan.
Built on an all-new ladder-frame chassis, the all-new Patrol features substantially larger frame side members, delivering higher static torsional stiffness than the outgoing Y62 Patrol. The larger frame side members contribute to a 40 per cent increase in torsional rigidity, while also improving noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), handling and ride comfort.
The new chassis also supports the all-new Patrol’s increased 3,700kg maximum braked towing capacity‡ and contributes to even higher levels of durability, reinforcing the Patrol’s capability across a broad range of driving conditions.
The all-new Patrol also features a significant increase in the use of high-strength steel within its body structure. High-strength steel now accounts for 27 per cent of the total body structure — a 21 percentage point increase over the outgoing Y62 Patrol.
The increased use of high-strength steel helps to create a stronger and more rigid body structure, supporting enhanced durability and occupant protection while helping to optimise overall vehicle weight.
With production now underway, the all-new Nissan Patrol is on track to launch in Australia in the months ahead, with the first Australian customer deliveries scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
