A new Nissan performance flagship is coming, with the Z NISMO to deliver more power, more performance and more excitement to Z fans across Australia.

Strictly limited to 100 examples in its first delivery run, which will commence in late 2023, customers will be able to apply to reserve the Z NISMO online for the first time.  The reservation system will work in partnership with Nissan's dealer network, which will assist in preparing and delivering every vehicle. Reservation terms and conditions apply.

From Monday August 7, Customers already awaiting delivery of a Nissan Z Coupe or Nissan Z Proto will be contacted by their Nissan dealer and offered the opportunity to transfer their order to a Z NISMO.

At 11am AEST on Thursday August 10, the Z NISMO reservations at Nissan.com.au will open, with remaining reservations then taken on a first come, first served basis and are subject to entering a sale contract with a Nissan dealer.

Customers will be able to build their Z NISMO online, personalise their vehicle's colour, choosing from Black Diamond Metallic, Brilliant Silver with a Super Black roof, Everest White with a Super Black Roof, or Stealth Gray with a Black roof.  Customer will then be asked to nominate the Nissan dealer they wish to purchase the vehicle from, and place a reservation fee of $1000 AUD to offer to purchase their Z NISMO.

Given the strictly limited vehicle numbers, payment of a reservation fee does not guarantee purchase of a vehicle and the fee is fully refundable prior to signing a contract of sale. Reservations are limited to one per customer, and third party resellers will not be eligible.

The Z NISMO will be joined by the MY24 Nissan Z, now $75,800 (MSRP)*, which introduces the option of a striking blue interior treatment choice, joining the standard black and optional black and red interior options. The MY24 Nissan Z also introduces a vibrant new exterior colour, New Site Orange, which joins Rosewood Metallic, Black Diamond Metallic, Gun Metallic, Seiran Blue with Super Black Roof, Ikazuchi Yellow with Super Black Roof, Everest White Tri Coat with Super Black Roof, Brilliant Silver with Super Black Roof and Boulder Gray with Super Black Roof on the Nissan Z's comprehensive colour palette.

"The Z NISMO is a true sports car flagship, with Nissan's engineers leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of performance," says Nissan Australia Managing Director, Adam Paterson.

"We wanted to extend our thanks to those already awaiting their Z by offering them a chance to secure a Z NISMO, while still ensuring this special vehicle is made available to Z fans across the country.

"There are going to be even more very happy Z fans across Australia, and I can't wait to see the Z NISMO join the Z Coupe and Z Proto on Australian roads."

The flagship model in the Z range will arrive in a single performance-focused grade, and will be priced at $94,000 MSRP*. Deliveries will commence in late 2023.

More power, more performance

While the Z's 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 produces a potent 298kW and 475Nm, the Z NISMO ups the performance ante even further, with enhancements like improved cooling, increased turbocharger boost and turbine speed, and an independent ignition spark timing strategy inspired by GT-R NISMO, combining to increase outputs to 309kW and 520Nm (+11kW and +45Nm respectively).

That track-ready performance is met by track-ready endurance, with an enhanced engine oil cooler engineered to keep the NISMO at its peak for the longest possible periods.

A NISMO-tuned nine-speed automatic is the exclusive transmission option, with power delivered to the rear wheels.

Dynamic shifting with Sport+ mode

Z NISMO exclusively uses a nine-speed automatic transmission that has been enhanced for faster and more dynamic shifting performance, with a particular focus on suitability for track use. Compared to the transmission in other Z grades, it has revised clutch packs allowing for faster shifting. Along with revised engine management software, Z NISMO's transmission has reduced downshift time by almost half. Launch control also delivers more aggressive standing-start acceleration.

In addition to Normal and Sport, Z NISMO adds a new Sport+ drive mode. This delivers a more dynamic, racetrack-tuned shift program for circuit driving, taking advantage of the powertrain's faster downshift capability. The shift programming is designed to be so responsive for performance driving that a driver does not need to use the shift paddles on track – though fast-responding manual shifting is always available.

Improved aerodynamics

The front of Z NISMO features a styling element called the "Grand-Nose" or "G-Nose," which extends farther forward than on other grades and recalls a similar design treatment on the heritage 240Z.

The new front fascia also features a restyled grille opening with the thinnest honeycomb mesh of any Nissan production car. That mesh grille balances the need to reduce drag with permitting cooling air to the engine bay. Canards at the car's front corners create vortexes over the front wheels, further benefiting aerodynamic performance. A subtle red accent runs along the lower edge of the front fascia.

Complementing the G-Nose is a taller, wider rear spoiler, with a three-piece design that extends onto the rear fenders. The rear bumper corners are reshaped to aid with air separation and reduced drag; their shape is inspired by that on GT-R NISMO. A red accent runs from the lower edges of the rear fascia and above the exhaust outlets. Z NISMO's redesigned side sills also help reduce aerodynamic drag and lift.

Enhanced suspension and tyres

NISMO engineers revised every element of the car's suspension to optimise precision, predictability and cornering grip. Z NISMO has unique stabiliser bars, a stiffer spring rate and larger, retuned dampers. The overarching tuning ethos was to deliver accurate, "one-shot" steering that helps drivers to pick their line through a turn with a minimum of steering adjustment needed, contributing to confident track-ready performance.

To deliver maximum road feel and traction, Z NISMO wears Dunlop® SP SPORT MAXX GT600 tyres, a version of which are also used on GT-R. The rear tyres measure 10-millimetres wider.

The tyres are fitted to lightweight, NISMO-specific, gloss black RAYSTM 19-inch wheels. Although wider than the 19-inch wheels on the Z, their advanced construction means the NISMO-specific wheels are slightly lighter.

Stiffened chassis

Comprehensive chassis revisions to Z NISMO begin with bracing and stiffening measures that help the car faithfully track and respond to the increased cornering forces enabled by Z NISMO's tyres. Enhancements include additional front, rear and rear underfloor bracing, helping increase torsional rigidity by 2.5 per cent. Stiffer front and rear suspension bushings, and a stiffer mounting bushing for the steering rack, further increase lateral rigidity.

Track-enhanced braking system

Engineers enhanced the Z NISMO braking system, upgrading the front brakes to larger, 380 mm rotors (+25 mm) and 2mm thicker rotors matched to 350 mm rear brake rotors, and equipping a more performance-focused brake pad compound. The changes are intended to improve Z's impressive brake pedal feel and enhance braking performance in extended track use scenarios.

Elevated interior

Nissan designers carefully enhanced the cabin of Z NISMO to amplify visual appeal without creating unnecessary visual "noise." The engine start/stop and drive mode selection buttons are anodised red. The graphics in the fully digital TFT display feature a red outline around the tachometer, a NISMO logo and a special red "flash" during the start-up animation.

Helping to secure the driver and passenger in place are RECAROTM seats finished in a combination of leather^ and AlcantaraTM, with a red centre section and NISMO logos in the headrests. A new steering wheel features leather and AlcantaraTM trim, with a sporty, racing-inspired red accent mark at the 12 o'clock position.
