HONG KONG, China – Nissan today announced Asia and Oceania regional sales of 34,524 units in December 2012: it was Nissan's best December in the region as measured by sales volume.
Compared to 23,278 units a year earlier, the results represent a 48.3 per cent year-on-year increase. Thailand, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia led the sales growth.
In the 2012 calendar year, total Nissan sales of 336,089 units were up 29.7% compared to the 259,192 units sold in 2011. This marked the region's best ever calendar year in terms of volume. Thailand led this sales growth due to Nissan's strong eco-car line up and government's 'First Car Buyer Program'.

Thailand
Nissan Motor Thailand (NMT) posted sales of 15,025 units, a year-on-year sales increase of 102.5 per cent due to Nissan's strong eco-car line-up and the government's 'First Car Buyer Program'.
Nissan's eco-cars, Almera (8,236 units) and March (2,294 units), led sales, along with the Navara pick-up, with sales of 2,665 units in December.
During the Thailand International Motor Expo 2012 (November 28 to December 10), NMT received orders for 8,819 cars, up 87 per cent from 2011.
Australia
Nissan Motor Australia, with 7,338 units sold in December, posted its eighth consecutive record sales month. Compared to 6,003 units a year earlier, sales rose 22.2 per cent.
With a wide product range, Nissan set new records in December. Navara set a new record with sales of 2,688 units in December. DUALIS turned in the second-highest month on record with sales of 1,346 units, an increase of 31.4 per cent compared to December 2011.
Indonesia
Nissan Motor Indonesia posted sales of 5,621 units for its best December ever. Sales increased 12.3 per cent year-on-year.
Grand Livina (2,857 units) and Evalia (1,123 units) were the main contributors to sales this month.
Malaysia
Edaran Tan Chong Motor posted sales of 4,006 units, up 59.7 per cent from last December.
Almera, which was launched at the end of October, contributed 2,375 units to sales. More than 12,823 people have placed orders by the end of December since launch.
"Our December sales prove again that the markets in the Asia and Oceania region are very promising for Nissan," said Nissan regional vice president Takayuki Kimura.
"We are confident that we are on track to meet the goals of our regional and corporate mid-term business plans, and we will continue to build on this momentum by offering attractive products and services to our valued customers."
